  1. I was born in Uniondale in the Southern Cape which also had a Ponevez community – with a Shul, Mikva and Talmud Torah. I visited there a year ago, not one Jew in the town, but the Shul compound is beautifully looked after by the Board of Deputies – they even installed an alarm and fenced in the entire property!
