The Perth Australia Temple is the 106th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It is located at 163–173 Wordsworth Avenue, Yokine, Western Australia.

I am at the Family History Centre to view two microfilms that I have ordered from Salt Lake City, Utah. The microfilms are of Jewish records I am researching, that are to be found in the archives in Vilnius, Lithuania. The Mormon or Church of Latter Day Saints are said to be the largest holders of genealogical records.

Family History Center (LDS Church)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Family History Centers (FHCs) are units of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). In 2009, there were more than 4,500 FHCs in 88 countries. The centers supply resources for research and study of genealogy and family history.

The smallest FHCs are targeted toward people living within the boundaries of individual local wards and branchesStakes and districts may house a FHC for their constituent wards/branches, or may share a facility with multiple stakes/districts in their area. Regional FHCs are usually “library class” facilities designated as true branch libraries of the Salt Lake City Family History Library (FHL). FHCs with established hours of operation are open to members of the LDS Church and nonmembers alike.

Redemptoris Mater (seminary)

For the 1987 papal encyclical of the same name, see Redemptoris Mater.

The seal of Redemptoris Mater seminaries

Redemptoris Mater (LatinMother of the Redeemer) is the name for certain Roman Catholic seminaries which operate under the auspices of the Neocatechumenal Way and claim as their mission the formation of priests for the “New Evangelization”. These seminaries are distributed worldwide, with nearly 1,500 seminarians currently in formation. More than 1,200 graduates of Redemptoris Mater seminaries have been ordained to the priesthood for their respective dioceses of incardination.

I recently visited the Redemptoris Mater Church in Morley, a seminary for Catholics training for the priesthood.

I was told that they had a mezuzah on their front door as well as the Tanach in their library and I was curious to see these.

I met Fr. Michael Moore, the rector, who gave me some handouts (below) about the Symphony Concert held at Auschwitz in 2013.

The Jewish representatives included Rabbi David Rosen, once the Chief Rabbi of Ireland and the rabbi at the Green & Sea Point (Marais Road) Synagogue in Cape Town, now ADJ International Director of Interreligious Relations.

Also on the list of rabbis was Rabbi Arthur Schneier, rabbi at the Park East Synagogue in New York City, my brother Michael’s shul.
