Emanuel Synagogue (Sydney, New South Wales)
Emanuel Synagogue, founded as The Congregation of the Temple Emanuel in 1938, is a progressive synagogue in Woollahra, New South Wales, Australia. It includes a pre-school (founded in 1956) and day school (founded in 1982) as part of its educational offerings. The temple currently has more than 1,100 members and maintains connections with less liberal synagogues in greater Sydney. Australia’s well known General, Paul Cullen, was instrumental in the temple’s founding, including helping to select its first rabbi.
